Hello!

IMG_1433.jpeg

I’m Helen, Founder and Head Doodler at Sweet Faraday Studio.

I believe art is for everyone.

Although my love of art began before I could even walk, it was my primary school art teacher that truly ignited a fire within me. I distinctly remember every corner of her art room - from the kiln to the pots of brushes and even the asbestos heaters, we used to warm up the lino before cutting (no, there were zero Health and Safety measures growing up in South Africa during the 80s). I remember many hours of drawing and painting, learning how to burnish a clay pot I had made with the back of a teaspoon and doing batik dyeing but what I mostly remember is being so happy in that art room. It had big windows and was always bright and airy with the chitter-chatter of excited little voices that could be heard down the hallways. Art and creativity have always brought me joy - Mrs Butler is sadly

no longer with us but her kindness and enthusiasm for teaching art has always been an inspiration for me.

After working for two decades in studio management, where I worked in various creative industries from print and production to digital photography and publishing, I took time out to raise my family. I founded Sweet Faraday in 2019 and have been running art clubs and sharing my love for all things ‘art’ ever since.

The Sweet Faraday Studio provides a safe and inspiring place to learn and explore art practices and techniques while forging connections through shared interests and conversations. I love to challenge and inspire young (and young-at-heart) artists, whilst helping them to grow in confidence through the work that they create.

I am DBS checked and fully insured.
